Giving Section - Volunteering

Volunteering at the Museum and Library

VolunteersOne of the most effective ways to help the Museum is to give us your time.

We are always looking for interested people to volunteer to work for both the Museum and Library.

The Royal Engineers Museum Volunteers will be involved in a number of projects run by the Museum. Most of those projects relate to ongoing tasks but some of them are or will be generated by the Museum's re-development. Volunteers will be supervised by a member of the curatorial team at all times.

Some of the recent projects and activities made possible by voluntary help include:

  • Display and conservation of the medal collection.
  • Maintenance of the large equipment and vehicle collection.
  • Renovation and auditing of the model collection.
  • Auditing of the Museum Collection in general.
  • Conservation of the Library's Army Lists.
  • Transcription of Peninsular War archives.
  • Cataloguing of the Postal and Courier Services archive.

We are always eager to receive assistance from units of the Corps. Many of the projects in the Museum require the work of tradesmen (carpenters, electricians etc) and for many we just need extra manpower.

See also our Vacancies page.
