Giving Section - Financial Assistance

The Museum has a number of different fundraising organisations and funds. Each contributes to the running and development of different aspects of the Museum and Library's operation.

RE Museum Foundation

This charity (No. 295174) was set up in 1987 with the long-term aim of funding the Museum's redevelopment plan, in conjunction with grant bids wherever appropriate.

Between 1987 and 2004 it raised approximately £1.4 million and provided the finances for the following projects:

  • Relocation of the Museum from its original site in Brompton Barracks to its current position in the Ravelin Building (1987).

  • Development of the Courtyard, roofing it, installing a walkway and the creating the Post War Gallery displays (1994-1996).

  • Modernising displays in the Victorian Galleries with the assistance of the Designated Challenge Fund (1999-2001).

  • Improvements to customer facilities in the Museum entrance area (2002-2005).

The Foundation is currently fundraising for projects detailed on the Development Programmes page.
