Executive Committee and AGM

The Executive Committee comprising of the FoREM officers and the chairmen of the Groups and Specialist Sub-committees meet at the Royal Engineers Museum.

Camberley Group and Events

The group continues to meet on an ad hoc and occasional basis. Needless to say newer and younger blood is urgent needed. Anyone in the Camberley/Aldershot area interested in joining the Group and breathing new life into it please contact the FoREM Secretary at: Sec-FoREM@remuseum.org.uk

Colchester Group and Events

The evening meetings take place at the Colchester Garrison Officer's Club, St John's Green, Colchester.

  • Thu 5 Feb 09 - Dee Evans, Artistic Director of the Mercury Theatre on ‘The Mercury, What it Does, How it Does it and Why’
  • Thu 5 Mar 09 - Lt Col Rufus McNeil OBE RLC, CO 13 Air Assault Support Regt RLC on ‘Operation Eagle’s Summit’- the convoy of a generator in Afghanistan
  • Thu 2 Apr 09 - AGM followed by Colonel Gerald Napier on the Lines of Torres Vedras, from Wellington’s campaigns in the Peninsula
  • Fri 7 May 09 - John Pyle, Chartered Engineer, on the subject of ‘Early Stages of the Combat Engineer Tractor and Chieftain Bridgelayer Projects at MEXE’

Non-Members are most welcome to the talks. There is free car parking at the Club. Members pay £5 and non-members £5.50. We meet in the Club bar at 1830 hours; meetings generally start at 1900 hours. Refreshments are served at about 2000 hours. During the summer the Group organises visits to places of interest.

Members and non-Members who wish to attend meetings or to join FoREM should contact the Colchester Group Secretary, Vic Freeman, telephone number 01206 - 863821, at least 24 hours beforehand to enable catering arrangements to be made.

The evening meetings take place at Command Wing Training Centre in the Royal School of Military Engineers (RSME), Brompton Barracks, Chatham, there is prompt start at 17.45 hours.
