The Museum is always keen to offer educational packages to any kind of group visiting and is happy to try and tailor for individual requirements.
Scouts, Guides, Brownies and Cubs
Special activities are available for Scout and Cub groups including:
- Bridge Building workshops
Groups can try their hand at building model bridges from material supplied by the Museum and test to see which is the strongest.
- Camouflage workshops
Groups can learn more about how and why the army camouflages its vehicles, equipment and soldiers and have a go themselves!
- Medal making workshops
The Museum has a large medal collection and groups choosing this workshop have a chance to design and make their own medals taking inspiration from the displays.
- Gallery Quiz Sheets
The Museum has quizzes designed specially for Cub and Scout groups.
- Guided Tours
Groups are lead through the Museum Galleries by trained museum staff. The stories behind many of the artefacts on display are brought to life and group members to ask questions of their own.
- Talks and Object Handling:
- Defending the Medway towns
This talk looks at two periods of Medway's history
as children use objects, maps and photographs
to find out about the defence of the Dockyard
from the 18th Century to the experiences of the
Medway Towns in World War Two.
- Royal Engineers in World War Two
Not all soldiers are men with guns, as groups will find out in this session about Sappers at War. Objects and images will be used to look at the roles of the Royal Engineers in bridge building, mine detection and bomb disposal.
- Why we remember?
In this session your group can make their own poppy for Remembrance Sunday and find out what we are remembering on Remembrance Day and why, with object handling and time to explore the galleries.
Foreign Language Students
Foreign Language Students are welcome and the museum has guide books and quiz sheets in various languages.
